静岡県生まれ、東京工業大学で建築を学び、1979－８0年にETH（スイス連邦工科大学）留学、1984年に東京工業大大学院博士後期課程を修了し、遊び場のテーマで工学博士の学位を取得。大学院時代より、子どもの遊びと街研究会を主宰し、東京世田谷の三軒茶屋・太子堂地区で三世代遊び場マップ・図鑑づくりに従事し、住民参加、子ども参画のまちづくりを進める。(社)農村生活総合研究センター研究員を経て、1992年より千葉大学園芸学部に勤める。専門は都市計画、まちづくり、緑地環境管理学。UNESCO Growing
Up In Citiesの日本コーディネーター。常に自分の足下でまちづくりをモットーに松戸小金地区のまちづくりにも関わる。
