Ms. Kehinde Fawibe Won Second Prize at the International Conference of Soil Physics!

2025.09.03

At the International Conference of Soil Physics, held from August 18, 2025, at J-Village in Naraha Town, Fukushima Prefecture, Ms. Kehinde Fawibe, a 3rd year doctoral student in the Graduate School of Horticulture (Soil Science Laboratory, supervised by Associate Professor Miwa Yashima), won second prize in the Student Competition.

This international conference, held once every four years, is a highly significant academic event where soil physics researchers from around the world gather to share and discuss the latest research findings.

During the conference, Ms. Fawibe presented her research on the decontaminated soil of Iitate Village, Fukushima, entitled:
"Impact of Rice Husk Biochar on Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Soil Fertility of Decontaminated Soil of Iitate, Fukushima."
Her presentation received high recognition for its originality, scientific contribution, and potential for sustainable agriculture.

Ms. Fawibe expressed her joy and gratitude for receiving the award as follows:
"It was an honor to present my research at the prestigious Kirkham Conference.
The experience was both enriching and inspiring, from the keynote lectures to the innovative presentations by fellow students.
I am deeply grateful to my supervisor, Professor Yashima, and the Chiba University community for their support and encouragement, which have greatly shaped my academic journey.
To fellow students and young researchers: persevere, stay curious, and embrace every opportunity to learn -- the journey is as important as the destination".
