愛知県出身。京都大学農学部卒業、同大学院農学研究科修士課程修了後、同大学院理学研究科博士後期課程修了。オランダ王国アムステルダム大学ポスドク、日本学術振興会特別研究員などを経て現職。
植物、植食者、天敵などを材料に、動物-植物の相互作用および捕食者-被食者の相互作用の研究を行っている。専門は行動生態学、化学生態学。
