佐賀県唐津市生まれ.筑波大学第二学群農林学類(現生物資源学類)卒業.その後同大学院博士課程農学研究科を修了後,1990年より千葉大学園芸学部に勤める.専門は植物栄養学,根圏微生物学,土壌微生物学.所属学会は,日本土壌肥料学会,日本植物生理学会,日本土壌微生物学会など.1995年に日本土壌肥料学会奨励賞を受賞.現在の主な研究は,1)ダイズと微生物の共生関係に関与する宿主遺伝子の解明,2)菌根菌を用いた植物の重金属耐性の強化と土壌汚染の浄化,3)畑圃場における菌根菌バイオマスの測定,4)多機能植物有用菌Penicillium sp. EU0013株の機能解明.
