Prof. Yamato was born at Yokohama city in Kanagawa Pref. Japan. After graduated from Graduate school of Horticulture, Chiba University, he worked at Biological Environmental Institute, The General Environmental Technos and Faculty of Agriculture, Tottori University. He started to work for Faculty of Education, Chiba University in 2013. He has also held an additional post at Graduate school of Horticulture since then. His major fields is fungal ecology, especially for mycorrhizal symbioses. He received Young Investigator Award from The Mycological Society of Japan in 2005. His current research subjects are 1) Ecology of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, 2) Arbuscular mycorrhizal symbioses in forest ecosystems, 3) Mycorrhizal symbioses of mycoheterotrophic plants, etc.
